How much time does running a chapter actually take?: A few hours a month at minimum — mostly planning your first drive and staying in contact with your campus. Chapters run on momentum, not burnout. Most active chapter leaders put in 2–4 hours/month outside of drive days themselves.
Can two of us co-found a chapter together?: Yes — a co-founding team is encouraged. One person serves as the primary contact for the application; the other can be listed as the founding co-lead.
What if I graduate or move before the chapter is fully established?: We plan for this in onboarding. The goal is to get at least one drive run and a successor identified before you go. Many chapters start with one person and grow a leadership team within the first semester.
Do I need prior nonprofit or event-planning experience?: No. The launch kit, charter, and onboarding call cover everything — table setup, QR registration links, outreach scripts. If you can organize people in a common space, you can run a drive.
What support does OAI actually provide after I'm approved?: After approval you complete a 4-step onboarding (mission alignment, planning, commitment, and a brief profile). Then you get access to the chapter portal — the drive playbook, event templates, the social media kit, and direct access to the founding team for questions.
